Random black displays

Since a few days I've been having some issues with random black screens.
Sometimes when I'm busy using my system, sometimes when it's idle, 5 minutes after I boot or 5 hours...
My screen just turns black. I can go back to the virtual consoles but the 7th just stays black, even when I kill X and slim.

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Random black displays

Which Window Manager do you use ? Is it a problem after a pacman -Syu too ? Which kernel/driver/xorg do you use? What about your xorg.conf ?

Re: Random black displays

Just when I was typing a reply, it turned a dark shade of pink :-/ And half an hour before that it turned black while watching a movie on mplayer (sound kept working).

Apps and versions (system is fully updated):
- openbox 3.4.7.2-2
- kernel26 2.6.30.1-1 (standard kernel)
- xorg-server 1.6.1.901-3
- xf86-video-intel-legacy 2.3.2-3

Re: Random black displays

Several others have reported this problem:

There are a couple of things you can try in the above.  I still have the issue however on both NVIDIA and Intel, with a fully updated system.
