anyone know how to toggle the priority (on/off/high) of multiple files in the file list of a torrent (like a torrent with a bunch of books) from the rtorrent console? i am wondering if this could be facilitated by gnu screen which would be great but i have never come across such a method over the course of daily use. TIA

Go to the file list and hit space when you have the file selected.

my original post was a bit unclear, i meant multiple files as in 'multiple files at once' rather than 'mulitple files one at a time'. obviously the former functionality would be less useful without some way to sort the records shown in the file list before toggling the priority of a given set of them en-masse, a method i am also ignorant of at this time. thanks

You can do directories at once by selecting the heading, but apart from that I don't think that rtorrent allows it.

now that you mention it i did come across a file list having subsections that could be toggled. i no longer have it otherwise i would check it out right now. is this kind of directory structure something that can be imposed on the .torrent file? assuming that .torrents are text files, i am envisioning some short script to reformat the flat list with rtorrent-parse-able file groups.

You can toogle the priority of mutliple files with holding Shift-key pressed and pressing the + key.

i am not sure what you mean. i am unable to select any files using shift(+)

No this doesn't select files but changes the priority of all files together. Selecting files is afaik not possible with rtorrent.

You can also use * to change the priority of all files.
