Re: sound problem

did you check the wiki? http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Alsa%20setup
This guide is for proper alsa installation under Arch.  Make sure you did all these steps.  Also, if you have no sound after a reboot, run alsamixer and check if you channels are muted... you may want to check the script listed in the wiki link above too - it will save sound level between reboots

Sounds permissions related... Folllow the wiki religiously and you'll be fine.

Re: sound problem

I have sound problem with gaim notification when xmms, sound in flash website, and mplayer running all at the same time.  Is there a way in running them all ?
i have manage to run xmms flash and mplayer simultaneously by changing the sound drivers they use, but gaim seems to be the most inflexible.  Does anyone know a solution?
thankx

about your kde problems: there are like 10+ other desktops you can try out,

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

can you explain the problem a bit more?  does sound not work with all the apps running at once? is it garbled? what?

also, check the wiki link that neotuli and I posted earlier - make sure you followed all the steps

Re: sound problem

Alex, is your sound on esd in gaim ? or is it on alsa, because, if it is on alsa it behaves badly !!!!

my alsa setup behaves perfectly - I can watch a movie and still hear gaim sounds and/or listen to xmms audio at the same time...
all you have to do is follow the wiki setup exactly...
