Its the GDM starting X on the same vt as agetty.

I too run Intel Video. I use KMS and UXA and all that stuffs.

Sorry I just spotted in my Thread that I didn't state the error codes i was getting. But they are the same error.

THANK YOU! It really seems to work, I can't trigger the crash anymore, will let you know if anything goes wrong.

Thank you.

Re: [SOLVED] gdm crashes / gdm_slave_xioerror_handler

So.. is this something we are going to have to put in the "Beginners Guide" or something?

It seems to be cropping up a bit?

At least in the Wiki for Xorg/GDM/KDM

Yes, that's a good idea.

Re: [SOLVED] gdm crashes / gdm_slave_xioerror_handler

So, it looks like the suggestion in this thread seems to solve the problem.
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=77351

For reference, it was to add the following line to the [servers] section of /etc/gdm/custom.conf

0=Standard vt7

Can anyone else confirm that this solves the problem?

I moved gdm from rc.conf to rc.local, and I haven't had this problem ever since.

Re: [SOLVED] gdm crashes / gdm_slave_xioerror_handler

That would fix it based on Timing.
It would make sure the gettty's had started before GDM was launched.

It like the other 'fix' is more of a work around, tho it's less Arch's KISS than the custom.conf editing.
