Hello... i have a problem with getting dhcp working with iwl3945. I've tried getting ip adress for my wireless card with both dhcpcd and dhclient and both of them timeout. It does however work when i rmmod iwl3945 and modprobe iwl3945 and then run ifconfig wlan0 up and iwconfig wlan0 key mykey essid myessid. I do have to do this every time i lose the connection or go to a new network so as soon as the connection goes down i've lost the use of my card. This is pretty annoying and i cannot use wicd or network manager at all. Anyone come across the same issue?

Welcome to the forum, kaivostyo!
Last case, you can put that in your /etc/rc.local or ~/.xinitrc. Which card do you use, and which version of the driver? Can you try it with an older one ?

ugaciaka: yeah i've got the firmware installed...it probably wouldn't work at all without it.
djszapi: i have this kinda solution now but it only works once. I'm hoping to get wicd/networkmanager to work but since they bring the device down and up all the time when changing the network it breaks the driver. I have Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card and it uses the iwl3945 driver from the latest kernel. It's hard to use older driver as it's in the kernel
Thank you for your replies!

"i have this kinda solution now but it only works once." <- what does it mean ? It's enough to work once after booting, it's needed to do it one time, not ?
