Well, apparently it's not only windows. Linux mint can't find my poor laptop either.
However, I can access any networked computer (if I have access ^^).
I did set my hostname in rc.conf and hosts.
Can anyone enlighten me?

How do you mean find -- what are you trying to access? File shares, ssh, ping, etc?

I mean when you open the network folder (or whatever it's called in the windozes below 7) and go through the appropriate paths, I can't find my laptop (named dogskot). Type //dogskot/ in windows explorer also doesn't work.
I have no idea how to ping it or ssh or access it in any other way. (Sorry, should've said I'm a linux noob. Basically just switched to arch from ubuntu last month.)

Clearly, samba is not configured correctly - or maybe it's not even running? Your one-word answer above is useless to anyone who's thinking of helping you.

samba may be configured properly and shares will not be visible simply because:
1) depends how often your network information is refreshed (may take several minutes up to ~30min. If you can ping box from windows = you can access samba shares (configured) by manually adding share to windows
2) firewall config
3) assuming proper config (you may give it some time):
test server:
smbclient -L box_name/or IP address
smbclient -L box_name
nmblookup -S WORKGROUP
nmblookup -T WORKGROUP

And just because you installed samba does not automatically mean that you started the daemon manually or indeed have added it to your rc.conf - a common oversight of new Archers
