Fast vnc server to arch?

Hi, last few days I tried a lot of stuff:
Tightvnc server on linux, with client on windows = very slow, even on LAN via switch its slow.
FreeNX = impossible to setup :\ tried everything its just wont let me in
Xming - the best for now, but lacks features like going full screen and remember session.

Can you suggest me a good way to setup remote access to my arch box with the ability to remember session?

[edit]
I got freenx to work and its kinda slow too

Thanks

Re: Fast vnc server to arch?

x11vnc rocks on my computer. The remote access is made through grdc.

They say that if you play a Win cd backward you hear satanic messages. That's nothing! 'cause if you play it forwards, it installs windows.

Re: Fast vnc server to arch?

I run the vino vnc Server from gnome because it's convenient with the configuration dialog, the notifications and the tray icon. I have no problems with the speed using the tightvnc viewer or vinagre (the vnc viewer from gnome).

What exactly do you mean by "very slow"?

Thanks! However vino is heavily depends on gnome, and my PC is a server so I try to keep it as small as possible (openbox + few terminal (mc, vim))
By very slow I mean than on lan when the computer connected with hmm about 2 meter eth cable (via switch) the speed of tight vnc is horrible, moving windows lags (the mouse tail effect for those of you who used it in windows), I afraid to imagine what will happen when I will made a connection that is not in my LAN.

Re: Fast vnc server to arch?

Are other connections between the two boxes also slow e.g. ssh, network shares, etc? If so, it could be a network issue, and not vnc.

Also, if it's a server, do you really need gui access? I use ssh exclusively with my servers, don't miss X or a WM at all.

Xming runs perfec, ssh also, samba shares pretty fast (cant really measure the rates)

Well it is a server, however a personal one, but it also serves as linux development box, I tend to code things on it, I could use bash + screen, but I need an emulator to run the code, and there is no text version of it, also bash + screen is annoying tongue, I prefer few terminal (one with MC, one with bash to run make, and an editor like geany). I really try to keep the X env as small as possible, I just cant work it text env smile
