I don't know if this is at all possible with XP, but I know SSH - the package is OpenSSH - supports forwarding X. If you just want a command line, PuTTY can probably do it without issue if you set up an SSH server on either computer.

Look into FreeNX or NXServer

Does your friend run XP pro or home?  If it's Pro there is a terminal server (rdp) built into it which you can use.  Look in the AUR for tsclient.  Failing that, have your friend download tightvnc and use that which works very well.

Re: how to share other computer desktop through internet

OK... check out tightvnc and/or tsclient.  The rdp will be faster, but your friend can't see what you're doing (it locks his screen).  Tightvnc allows you both to share the session, but if he locks his screen (welcome screen) you can't connect.  You can tunnel vnc through ssh for added security.  See, this guide for installing a free sshd sever on his box and see this post for a guide to using it on the Linux side.
