[SOLVED] Wicd doesn't work any more

I there, I get

Trying to start Wicd GUI, it asks for root password and does nothing.

Wicd daemon seems to load properly. Version is 1.6.2.2-2.

did you start dbus before wicd ?

HAL is supposed to take care of that. And yes, I confirm dbus runs.

Thanks R00KIE for pointing me to a relevant topic. It looks like something changed in Wicd configuration files, so I had to remove them and reconfigure all my networks.

Why, oh, why does it happen each time wicd gets updated??
It happened twice this week. This is highly irritating...
