Bluray Player -> Ethernet -> Laptop -> Wifi -> Router

Today I got a new bluray player, it was advertised to come with Youtube and Netflix streaming, but it did not come with a wifi adapter (which I think is sort of false advertising).

So I was thinking of ways I could get this to work, the only way I could think of is to use my laptop as an ethernet to wireless adapter, is it possible in Arch?

You can either bridge the interfaces, or you can route between them.

If your new player has an ethernet port, can you not just plug it in to your router?

It's just inconvenient, the router is to far away from any TV.

Do you know of any good tutorials to bridge or route interfaces in Arch?

I don't see how the device having network connectivity but you not having the needed equipment is false advertising. It's just wrong expectations on your end...

A longer UTP cable won't do the trick either?

Have a look in the wiki, someone might have covered it there. If not, you don't need Arch-specific howtos for this - google and adapt whatever you find.

You could also buy a set of powergrid ethernet adapters, keeps the place clean smile.
