I have been using oss 4.1 and have been pretty happy with its performance. But I cannot update to oss 4.2 since, my sound stops working.
I was just browsing through the logs when I saw this in there
Oct 11 00:38:54 arch load-modules.sh: Not loading module 'iTCO_wdt' for alias 'pci:v00008086d0000244Csv00000000sd00000000bc06sc01i00' because it is blacklisted

I was under the impression that soundcore was required by ALSA and therefore I had disabled it in MODULES Array. Here's my MODULES array
#MOD_BLACKLIST=() #deprecated
#MODULES=(!iTCO_wdt 3c59x mii slhc ac97_bus snd-mixer-oss snd-pcm-oss snd-page-alloc snd-pcm snd-timer snd snd-ac97-codec snd-maestro3 soundcore)
MODULES=(!iTCO_wdt !slhc !soundcore)
Are the two related? does the new oss version(4.2) require soundcore to be enabled? coz like I said, everything works with oss 4.1 just as it is.
I am using hal, so do I even need the MODULES array at all and also the xorg.conf file anymore?
