sandbox firewall

I'm just experimenting with setting up a linux dns / dhcp and firewall with virtualbox and I've created each thing with a seperate vm.

I've given the firewall two nics, and have made 1 connected to the internal network (between the 3 vms) and the other one connected to the outside (internet).

when I goto request something from the net, say ping www.google.com my firewall box doesn't seem to be able to resolve the address. when I disable the internal nic (and it seems I have to restart it, even though I restart the network rc file) it seems to work fine.

I've also added an entry to the resolv.conf for the dns on the internet link.

any idea where I should start looking?

So far the dhcp and dns work. just trying to get the firewall running to be able to act as a router.

Re: sandbox firewall

bah I resolved it....

sorry. my internal network was a 192.168.0.0/16 subnet and my external router was on the same subnet....changed it to 192.168.2.0/8.

*hope I got that right*
