Re: [SOLVED] DHCP problem. No internet.

Use code tags for conf files, and don't double-space. I've fixed both for you this time, as you're new here.

If you can ping google, how exactly is the internet not working? Can you browse? Send mail? Use pacman? etc

Some more details would be useful. Also please paste your routing table.

Sorry. I can use pacman but I can not browse.
How do I get the routing table?

You mean this?

Re: [SOLVED] DHCP problem. No internet.

I don't know if it's just me but I would change my hosts file to

#
# /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
#
#<ip-address>    <hostname.domain.org>    <hostname>
127.0.0.1    suzaku.localdomain      localhost      suzaku
#End of file

also try changing the networking part of your rc.conf to...

eth0="dhcp"
INTERFACES=(eth0)
gateway="default gw 192.168.2.1"
ROUTES=(gateway)

I guess your only missing the one line "gateway"

Re: [SOLVED] DHCP problem. No internet.

I changed it ,but the still get "Server not found.

I noticed I can put 209.85.225.103 in the browser address bar and the google home page will load.

Re: [SOLVED] DHCP problem. No internet.

ah then your nameserver is not working.

in wiked try clicking on properties and change
DNS domain, Search domain and DNS 1 all to your gateway or in your case 192.168.2.1 given that's the ip of your modem.

Re: [SOLVED] DHCP problem. No internet.

So internet works, fine.

What's your nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf, if any?

Also, post the output of: dhcpcd -k eth0 && dhcpcd -d eth0

Re: [SOLVED] DHCP problem. No internet.

Note as well that I edited my original post to include your gateway in your rc.conf because wicd may not be forwarding DNS requests to your modem (the gateway to your internet).

DNS is just how your computer resolves ip addresses from names like google.ca.

Re: [SOLVED] DHCP problem. No internet.

Changed DNS settings to 192.168.2.1 didnt change anything.

Here is my dhcpcd -k eth0 && dhcpcd -d eth0

bash-4.0# dhcpcd -k eth0 && dhcpcd -d eth0
dhcpcd: sending signal 1 to pid 2114
dhcpcd: waiting for pid 2114 to exit
dhcpcd: version 5.0.6 starting
dhcpcd: eth0: executing `/usr/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks', reason PREINIT
dhcpcd: eth0: executing `/usr/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks', reason CARRIER
dhcpcd: eth0: broadcasting for a lease
dhcpcd: eth0: sending DHCP_DISCOVER (xid 0xb66caad), next in 4.62 seconds
dhcpcd: eth0: offered 192.168.2.4 from 192.168.2.1
dhcpcd: eth0: sending DHCP_REQUEST (xid 0xb66caad), next in 4.63 seconds
dhcpcd: eth0: carrier lost
dhcpcd: eth0: executing `/usr/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks', reason NOCARRIER
dhcpcd: received SIGHUP, releasing lease
dhcpcd: eth0: removing interface
dhcpcd: eth0: executing `/usr/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-run-hooks', reason STOP
bash-4.0#

Also here is my resolve.conf

search 192.168.2.1
nameserver 192.168.2.1

Re: [SOLVED] DHCP problem. No internet.

I also tried this ,but no change so I switched my settings in wicd back the way they were.
