Re: internet connection problem

Why don't you add wicd to the daemons list? I bet it doesn't get started on boot.
See http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wicd

Re: internet connection problem

Well, can't really help you much. You need to give more information. Do you see wicd in the system tray? also what output do you get from running ifconfig? Does it work with cable plugged in? And last but not least, did you follow the beginners guide in the wiki ? http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners%27_Guide

Re: internet connection problem

ok, i tried it again and i found out that pages like www.golem.de works, but i still can't load google or yahoo and other pages like facebook are loaded but displayed incorrect (without frames..)

and yes i did it like in the Beginner's Guide, also the wicd-icon displays and show a connection ... so maybe there is problem with the system? Two browsers have the problem...

ahh and i tried 'ping -c 3 www.google.com' and it failed.

Re: internet connection problem

Can you ping the IP address of www.google.com, which is 209.85.135.106?
If some web sites work but others don't, it may be a problem with your internet provider (I guess he's also responsible for DNS?).

Re: internet connection problem

ok, i can ping google.com but not www.google.com.^^
The same happens with the live-core-cd or chakra-live-cd. Thats really strange, because i can load every page with ubuntu or windows. :S

Re: internet connection problem

Then compare the output of 'cat /etc/resolv.conf' between ubuntu and arch and see if there is a difference, you may want to compare the output of 'route' too.
