[SOLVED] Wireless drops out

Hey there,

I have been getting weird problems with my wireless dropping in and out every say 30 secs. I recently did a global update so I am thinking something may have broken.

I also use wicd to manage my wireless connection. Also there is no problem with the wireless itself as another person using the connection is having no problem at all.

Anyone got any ideas on the matter?

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless drops out

Can you be more specific?
I was having problems with my intel5300 since last update of iwlwifi-5000-ucode. After a suspend-resume cycle, the card would drop 50-70% of pings to my router. Unloading /reloading the module when resuming did the trick.

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless drops out

I am using the ipw2200 module. How can I unload and reload the module?

I did a restart and started a new session in xfce.

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless drops out

Oh wow, is that a coincidence. My thread in this forum that says Samba disconnects my wifi, I use the same wifi driver, and also use Wicd, and when I try to connect to a Samba share, my wifi starts disconnecting and reconnecting every 10-20 seconds. These problems sound related IMO.

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless drops out

It does sound related. I rolled my ipw2200 back to ipw2200-fw-3.1.1 yesterday and now I don't seem to have any problems yet.

I will see how it holds up before I say solved.

Re: [SOLVED] Wireless drops out

I have not received any more problems since rolling back ipw2200.

So I am marking this problem as solved.
