dhcpcd: wlan0: interface not found or invalid

Hey guys! I have a new HP dv4-1500T laptop with a intel wireless n wifi 100 series card. When I try to use dhcpcd to give my card a lease, it gives me:
dhcpcd: wlan0: interface not found or invalid.
Whats up with that? I have installed other distributions on my pc and the wifi works out of the box. So i dunno why arch doesnt seem to like it. Also, if it helps, when I turn on my laptop, the wifi light is red and not blue, if i tap it, the light stays red. Is it possible arch linux doesnt have the ability to use the touch interface since X isnt installed?

Have you got the right driver/firmware installed?

Re: dhcpcd: wlan0: interface not found or invalid

Fairly general question, so here's a general answer. Those other distributions may have automated and/or preconfig'd stuff for you. As a rule, Arch doesn't do that. Read the link jasonwryan gave you, see how you get on.

Similarly for the wifi button. I can tell you that my Compaq's wifi button works, but only when the driver (Broadcom/b43 in my case) is configured correctly, so start with that.

Ah.. Yeah i know that this isnt my first time using linux. I assumed the driver in it was ok since i had a wireless device. Ill have to do that since now even with X installed my wifi button stays red. The volume buttons work tho so i know they are configures

It doesnt look like those drivers will work for me.. my card is an Intel wifi link 100 card. None of those drivers match up. right now its using iwlagn as its driver
