Hello,
I installed Arch on my Thinkpad X200 with Fluxbox and PCManFM running as a file manager. Problem is, my Thinkpad's volume buttons don't seem to work. Any ideas?
I installed the tpb package and now my mute button works, but the volume up and down don't.
Thanks,
Toasty

amixer sset PCM 2-
(or 2+ for louder, or different integer value to change step value). Set it up with Fluxbox or xbindkeys, or whatever

Thanks both.
My volume keys as well as a few others work without fault.
Thanks again.

I have a thinkpad T60 and I can't get my sound to work at all. I have added username to the audio group and i have done the alsa-mixer settings. No luck. Did you do anything special to get the sound working?
also, working on the video performance. glxgears works but the fps are poor. Direct rendering is yes. My video card is the:VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc" BoardName "M52 [Mobility Radeon X1300]"BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
Any advice?
thanks!

Do you use KDE4? If, so, is this post helpful? I have a T61p.
(BTW, we should probably move this particular discussion to a new thread, but I'll leave that to you.)

I did solve this problem by following your post. Found that later. Also, by pressing my volume key, wollie, my sound started working. Thank you for your help. Many people have made it possible for me to get my laptop working to include my video. Removed the radeonhd driver and installed the radeon driver and did my xorg.conf and now my video is working great. once again, thanks to all of the people on the forums.
brazman
btw, running xfce4.
