Hi, i've a laptop, (Toshiba Satellite X200-21E), I would connect to an ADSL modem (to browse the net) (no router function), I am on Archlinux x86.
I tried wicd (on archlinux)==> don't work. (i've tried with Ubuntu live-cd don't work)
And I did not find documentation to connect to ADSL modem
(this modem work on windows xp or 7)
(I repeat NO ROUTER FUNCTION, (on windows I've got public IP only), and the modem is not configurable)
(I posted on archlinux.fr, but no answer, so I post here)

well, what's the brand of your modem? do you connect to it by usb or ethernet?
They say that if you play a Win cd backward you hear satanic messages. That's nothing! 'cause if you play it forwards, it installs windows.

rp-pppoe should do it for you - it's in the base group, so it should already be installed on your system. If not, pacman -S it.
There's a wiki page about it, and it also comes up in the Beginners' Guide.

I connect by ethernet.
I will tri rp-pppoe thanks

I suggest only ppp. It's much faster than rp-pppoe when connecting and rp-pppoe depends on ppp anyway.
