ADSL connection problem: pppoe connects but ping fails

Hello everyone!

I tried my very best not to post here, I installed arch x86_64 core ISO by reading wiki without problems.
I setup pppoe and ran pppoe-start and it successfully connected, but when I ping www.google.com or whatever IP address no packet receives.
pacman also doesn't find any package.:(

I tried /etc/rc.d/adsl start also and nothing changes.
When I check connection using pppoe-status it returns link is up and running and shows a valid IP from ISP.
After some hours of trying I don't know what else to do.
My connection works fine in windows and fedora.

I should mention I use dynamic IPs so I left some configuration to DHCP.
When I check the /etc/resolv.conf it shows my modem IP correctly.
And I use ethernet for modem connection.

Thank you in advance.:P

Re: ADSL connection problem: pppoe connects but ping fails

Try to ping your modem IP address first, if the ping is successful, try to ping another IP address like 8.8.8.8, and see if it successful or not.
if the ping to 8.8.8.8 is not successful, it means that the default gateway is your system is not setup right. But if the ping is successful, then the problem should be a DNS one, to remove that, configure /etc/resolv.conf and add a nameserver to it (top), openDNS server address is 208.67.222.222

Check the logs to see what's happening. run this command after you dail the connection

sudo tail -n 15 /var/log/daemon.log
