resume=swap:/dev/sda3:0x20e800
I alsotried with:
resume=file:/dev/sda3:0x20e800
And when I boot, I get "Invalid resume device swap:/dev/sda3:0x20e800" error!

Are you trying to suspend to the swap partition or to a file?
Did you follow along with here?: http://www.tuxonice.net/HOWTO-2.html#ss2.5

Maybe no-one uses it with a swap file . I use a swap partition myself. I must say I haven't hibernated in months though, just suspend and it gets the job done.

Yeah, I use swap partition, too, so I don't know a whole lot other than trying to combine instruction on how to do it from the Arch wiki, the Gentoo wiki, and tuxonice's website. If you followed along with some combination of how those 3 places say about setting it up with a swapfile, not a whole lot I can offer, sorry.

That's OK. I appreciate your help anyway.
Yes I did try all that. The only thing I didn't try is create a separate hibernation file. Maybe I will try that and see if it works.
