Hi all,
I have my first Arch install up and running. Everything seems to be fine except that I don't have by-id, [edit]by-uiid[/edit] and by-label symlinks in /dev/disk. There is only by-path.
Arch is booted from Ubuntu's Grub which is on my old PATA drive. Arch install is on a SATA drive. In Ubuntu everything is OK.
Any ideas how can I fix that?

ok, so because my main concern about this was that I can't use persistent device names in fstab and Grub's menu.lst, I've decided to get rid off PATA HOOK in mkinitcpio. Now my PATA drive is under the hd* name not sd* name as SATA so they can't be mixed on startup and kernel on it's initial stage doesn't see the PATA drives at all so he can't choose the wrong one . Boot problems went away but still no by-label and by-uiid in /dev/disk... but automagically by-id showed up but it contains only the PATA drives - my good old maxtor hd and a dvd drive

problem solved itself automagically. don't know what was the cause and what made the problem disappear
