no by-id, by-uiid and by-label in /dev/disk

Hi all,
I have my first Arch install up and running. Everything seems to be fine except that I don't have by-id, [edit]by-uiid[/edit] and by-label symlinks in /dev/disk. There is only by-path.
Arch is booted from Ubuntu's Grub which is on my old PATA drive. Arch install is on a SATA drive. In Ubuntu everything is OK.
Any ideas how can I fix that?

Re: no by-id, by-uiid and by-label in /dev/disk

ok, so because my main concern about this was that I can't use persistent device names in fstab and Grub's menu.lst, I've decided to get rid off PATA HOOK in mkinitcpio. Now my PATA drive is under the hd* name not sd* name as SATA so they can't be mixed on startup and kernel on it's initial stage doesn't see the PATA drives at all so he can't choose the wrong one wink. Boot problems went away but still no by-label and by-uiid in /dev/disk... but automagically by-id showed up but it contains only the PATA drives - my good old maxtor hd and a dvd drive

problem solved itself automagically. don't know what was the cause and what made the problem disappear
