Gparted wont start [SOLVED]

Hello,

I've installed gparted but cannot start it. I get this error:

[mak@myhost ~]$ gparted
Inhibit all polling failed: Only uid 0 is authorized to inhibit the daemon
[mak@myhost ~]$

Any idea?

Thanks,
jmak

Re: Gparted wont start [SOLVED]

You need to be root to run gparted. sudo, su, ...

When I start as root, I get this error message.

[root@myhost ~]# gparted
/usr/sbin/gpartedbin: error while loading shared libraries: libparted.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[root@myhost ~]#

Thanks. I was not aware that I have to install parted as well. I installed it and now gparted works.

Re: Gparted wont start [SOLVED]

cool, glad that it worked.

Just out of curiosity, how did you install gparted?  pacman should have pulled in all the dependencies for gparted, which should have included parted.

I installed gparted using pacman, but it seems, parted was not included among the dependencies.

Re: Gparted wont start [SOLVED]

Hmm. I remember that gparted was automatically asking for root pass throught gksu. Now it doesn't work. It's a bug or feature? smile
