Hi,
I have never set up a share on a network, but am setting up a media center, and want to be able to share all the files. So i thought samba would be the way to do this.
I have followed the wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Samba and have some promising signs, but not there.
So far;
smbnetfs daemon started
samba daemon started
I am trying to test if the share is working, so have the samba server up on the same machine i am trying to access it from. I browse to the following location which is completely empty!
/mnt/smbnet/MEDIACENTER/ARCHLINUX/public/etc/samba/smb.conf
[global]
workgroup = MEDIACENTER
server string = Samba Server
hosts allow = 192.168.1. 192.168.2. 127.
load printers = no
guest account = danny
log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
max log size = 50
dns proxy = no
[public]
comment = Public Stuff
path = /home/danny
available = yes
browsable = yes
public = yes
writable = noany ideas where i have gone wrong? thanks
