pppoe problems

Some days ago,I found a funny question.
when I run pppoe-start to connect the network,it report "TIME OUT"
but it seems I can ping the webset.

$sudo pppoe-start
................TIMED OUT
/usr/sbin/pppoe-start: line 193: 2906 Terminated $CONNECT "$@" > /dev/null 2>&1

$sudo pppoe-status
pppoe-status: Link is down (can't read pppoe PID file /var/run/pppoe.conf-pppoe.pid.pppoe)

but,

$ping www.hao123.com -c 1
PING hao123.n.shifen.com (220.181.107.31) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 220.181.107.31: icmp_seq=1 ttl=57 time=49.6 ms

--- hao123.n.shifen.com ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 1 received, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 49.672/49.672/49.672/0.000 ms

I think this maybe a bug?
how to fix it ?
