changed to dsl - apache dead

Hey there.
i just moved from one house to another. i have to use dsl broadband because we dont have cable here. i was getting on with dhcp via ethernet card. now i connect by pppoe ( used the rpppoe package off the arch 6 cdrom. so after i ran adsl-setup and answered some questions and selected "no firewall"
i cant even get it to show anything when i open a browser and go to localhost. it says that there is a failure connecting to server.
any help here would be greatly appreciated.

How? Could be useful for users who get the same problem in the future.

A train station is where a train stops.
On my desk I have a workstation.
