Re: JWM Users Post Here

When I was using JWM I tried hard to share the love, even starting a Share your JWM configs thread in artwork forum. Oddly enough, it seems that so few archers use JWM. I always figured that archers would love such a wm, it is light (lighter than even most tilers) and highly customizable. Yet I couldn't get a single other user to contribute a screenshot and JWM config....

Re: JWM Users Post Here

Hey guys
I also love JWM
though lately I have been onto Fluxbox

I made some preliminary rookie JWM live distros

RescuePup beta
http://multidistro.com/downloads/pupz/R … Beta-1.iso
puppy jwm
http://multidistro.com/shots/rpup.png

My tinycore 2.1 Dragons CD
http://multidistro.com/downloads/pupz/T … Dragon.iso

and just the themes/wallpapers
http://multidistro.com/downloads/pupz/d … mes.tar.gz

Dragon PICs:
http://multidistro.com//tinycore-shots/ … shots.html

My slack4christians 12.2 JWM CD
http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/O … 6077.shtml

My ClutchOS 12.2  JWM
http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/O … 4962.shtml

503box JWM rescue CD
http://linux.softpedia.com/get/System/O … 3880.shtml

I wanted to continue with JWM and originally what is now nFluxOS was gonna be about JWM
but is instead Fluxbox due to my continued misunderstanding of how to make custom JWM menus/submenus,etc
I never could figure it out...?!

Maybe I should try again and make a JWM addon module for the arch/slack release as I did with KDE 3.5.10 and Sawfish?
http://multidistro.com/NFLUXNEW/SQ4/changelog.html

If you guys look at those and help me design a JWM for nFluxOS ARCH that would be great!

Re: JWM Users Post Here

Well, JWM is light, but, "is lightest than most tilers"? You mean awesome (wm), don't you?
And, JWM has been on a "slow development" phase. Archers don't like it (many). Archers prefer the cunning edge of an arrow (pun intended)
Nevertheless, I appreciate JWM, but it is not that bright.

I'm also known as zmv on IRC.

Re: JWM Users Post Here

For me, valium, I have found that Jwm 'feels' lighter and snappier than awesome, wmii, and xmonad. Those are the only ones I even took a dab into and of course it is all subjective to user opinion. JWM is simple and elegant, and I think most archers haven't even tried it, choosing default favorites such as openbox, or a tiler. But that is choice after all right? Even though I am not using JWM right now, I still have it and still admire it and such and am glad to have the choice to use it or not to use it.
