SIOCSIFFLAGS: no such file or directory / Could not set interface...

Archlinux worked fine for me until after I 'sudo pacman -Ssy' (or whatever updates Archlinux)

SIOCSIFFLAGS: no such file or directory / Could not set interface 'wlan0' up

I get this message after I try to connect to wireless.

Because your wireless device is no longer working.


That is the best answer I can give without further details, like your wifi chipset, the driver you're using, the encryption you're using (if any), etc...

I added "!rt2800pci !rt2x00pci" to the MODULES() line in /etc/rc.conf and it works.

If that is true, you should try being more Arch-like. This was your thread, where you were looking for help with your problem, and yet you thought you'd just fsck around with stuff like "Windows <3" and "I tried the command whatismywifichipset"... yikes
