Which network manager for me (PPP VPN)

Howdy guys.

I've manually set up wpa_supplicant and ppptclient so i can connect at home (using WPA2) and at uni (using WEP + PPP).
I've create a bunch of scripts (basically just the commands to get me up and running for each).

I want to move towards a properly utility now that i understand some of the basics, but am not sure which way to go. Main features i'd want are

1) Connect automatically (bit of a no-brainer, i'd think alot of things would do this).
2) Be able to suspend/resume, eg reconnects if i come out of suspend (my stuff atm fails badly here).

3) If connected to the uni WEP network, automatically setup the vpn and do the routing, when the network is down go back. This i see being the hardest one.

and not so importantly, but something i can make work nice with dzen2 or so. So i could hit a key and view signal strength/ connected network etc, if the vpn is connected.

Anything do all this?.
