Insert subtitles into mkv files

Lately, im downloading tons of stuff in this HD format, and usually, i have to get the subtitles appart from some other page because the rippers usually eliminate them (which i see a bit useless, since they are usually some Kb in size)
Does it exist any way for, somehow, opening the mkv file, and inserting the subtitles in the same file, so i dont have to have two separate files: one with the movie and a second one with the subtitles?
I was thinking about some mkv editor or some command line programs.

Thanks

Mkvmerge can do that for you.
