Installed Wlan card Firmware, but it connect to the network with it

I installed The firmware for my  linksys wmp54g wlan card with b43-fwcutter, but the system wont connect to the network on startup, is that normal? if so how do i activate it and have it load on startup?:(

i just looked it up and it says to use wireless-tools, which i know i installed when i installed linux, how do i access those tools?

It is normal not to connect on startup. You have to do it yourself. Either use wireless-tools like tomk said or install something like wicd or networkmanager.
