iwl3945 - dhclient odd behavior

i've had this issue a while ago and i had to downgrade various packages to get my wifi to work again, but now i wanted to try kms with dri2 so i had to update the kernel, and thus dhclient.

after i using iwconfig to set the ssid, i use dhclient to get an ip. which i do, only after a few seconds it dissaciates, with this message appearing in dmesg:

wlan0: deauthenticating from 00:14:d1:37:d4:aa by local choice (reason=3).

if i check with iwconfig i also find that the ssid has been 'unset'. this doesn't happen when i associate with an adhoc network (i do it all the time tethering my iphone), nor does it seem to happen with dhcpcd. even oddlier (?) though, is if i then rerun iwconfig to set the ssid back to the one i had associated with, it just reassociates and then sticks.

i can't be the only experiencing this ... as anyone else got this and is there a known fix / workaround ? ..
