Sound Blaster

Hi, I just bought a sound blaster audiology2 pci card SB0400 and i cannot get the driver recognized. Installing alsa-driver and alsa-utils did not help. The error message at kde startup says:

Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such file or directory)

do I need to create this in fstab? I dont have a clue where to begin.

Re: Sound Blaster

What's the output of lspci? Are you sure the card is physically plugged in?

Also, did you follow the wiki guidelines? I have a 24 Bit Soundblaster that isn't properly supported yet. The driver is ca0106 - what module are you using for the Audigy?

Re: Sound Blaster

I dont know what ispci is. Im sure its plugged in good because it works fine in windows. I followed wiki and didn't get anything. I believe my module is emu10k1 (for audigy2 value zs- although mine is just audigy2 value which wasn't listed )which i added to rc.conf and that didn't work either.

Re: Sound Blaster

I don't know if this will help you but a quick search with google revealed this:

Re: Sound Blaster

I saw that site, but I couldn't make anys ense of it-especially the location of the documentation. I don't think this card is even supported by alsa yet (audigy2 value). They have suppot for audigy2 value zs and zs platinum which is a step up but not this. I was told they have different chipsets which could explain why that module wouldn't work. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait. roll
