Flash video plays too fast on my machine (as if it was set to fast-forward). I am using Firefox 3.6.3 with the latest Adobe flash plugin on Arch x64. What could be the problem? I have no problems playing non-Flash video content in external video players.

Arch x64? I've never had the problem and unfortunately I'm not sure how much help you're going to get since the flashplugin x86_64 package [has been] dropped. Have you tried playing them in another browser?

I'm also affected by this fast playing issue. But only on my notebook (Ati). My desktop seem to play the files well.

I'm using a laptop as well and the GPU is ATI too (radeon driver). I know the plugin has been removed but I need Flash and there's no good alternative.
What is interesting about the issue is that only video content is played too fast. Ads and games I tried are fine.

I'm using nvidia, so maybe it's an ATI issue? Have you thought about setting up a chroot and use flash from there?

I'm not sure this is a good fix for you, but I had the same problem.
I have two Radeon HD cards in CrossFireX and a sound card integrated in my mainboard.
I use the sound output from the HDMI port in one of the Radeon HD cards.
So... What I did was to disable the sound output from the second Radeon HD and the integrated sound card in the PulseAudio Volume Control (just set them to 'off').
Not a perfect solution, but it did fix my problem.
Hope this helps.

similar problem here, but I'm only affected when I play the video full screen. When it is normal resolution, it plays at normal speed

despotic, you might want to check what drivers you are using for the graphics card. your drivers might not be the best fit for running full screen videos. What card do you have and what drivers are you using for it?
There's no such thing as a stupid question, but there sure are a lot of inquisitive idiots !

Hi Inxsible,
A little history. Up to about a few weeks ago, flash was working fine (normal + full screen). Then, after I did a system update, flash was playing fast only when in full screen. When not in full screen, it still plays fine. At the time, I was using the (now unsupported) flashplugin that I installed with pacman, which was 10.0.45.2-1. I have since "upgraded" to the 32bit 10,1,82,76 using nspluginwrapper-flash-10.1.82.76-1-x86_64 since I'm on 64bit. Here is the info you requested:
Card:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M66-P [Mobility Radeon X1700]
And I'm using xf86-video-ati. Here's my X11 config:
Driver "radeon"
VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc"
BoardName "M66-P [Mobility Radeon X1700]"
Option "DRI" "on"
Option "DynamicPM" "on" # Dynamic powersaving.
Option "ClockGating" "on" # Assisting option for powersaving.
Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" # EXA should fit most cases.
Option "EXAVSync" "on" # EXAVSync is explained above.
Option "DMAForXv" "on" # Forced option in order to enable Xv overlay.
Option "ScalerWidth" "2048" # That should fix some very rare bugs.
Option "EnablePageFlip" "on" # It will not be enabled on R5xx cards.
Option "RenderAccel" "on" # Optional. It should be enabled by default.
Option "AccelDFS" "on" #Optional. See the man page.
Option "BusType" "PCIE"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
Thanks!

If by x11 config you mean your xorg.conf, then no you are not using xf86-video-ati, you are using xf86-video-radeon. Try switching to ati and see if it changes anything.

Yes, xorg. There is no xf86-video-radeon driver package. The radeon package is called xf86-video-ati and there is one for ati hd cards called xf86-video-radeonhd. Switching to "ati" in the config is the same ... fast fullscreen playback

I am on 64 bit. Nvidia card with nouveau drivers. Youtube videos play slightly too fast and pitch upshifted for me when I use OSS. Switching to ALSA makes flashplugin work normally. Using the new prerelease from AUR.
