wireless 'network is down'

To put it simply I can't get my wireless to work, I followed the wireless guide on the wiki, I looked through the forums and read what I could find that was similar to my problem, I have the firmware installed, but it has effectively stumped me.

I have this issue too! I think it is due to the linux-firmware update. Did you recently just update?

Recent clean install, but that would explain it.

Can you boot into the live arch cd and connect? before you install anything that is.

The light saying that my wireless is working isn't even on, so no I can't connect with the live CD.

cnp - the most important info for wifi debugging is the chipset in use. Please post it.

I don't know if there is a command that tells you, but I looked up the specs in an online review and got Intel i915GMS/i910GML.

Ok, somehow my wireless is up and running, unfortunately I still have no idea what happened,
Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)

That card does not work without specific user interaction - if it's working, you or somebody must have done the necessary work.

The appropriate driver here is b43 - the wiki's wireless page has a section about that.
