Ever since I've installed updates Wednesday, my wireless won't work. It gives these errors through dmesg:
[ 14.823359] phy0 -> rt2800_load_firmware: Error - PBF system register not ready.
[ 15.650025] phy0 -> rt2800_load_firmware: Error - PBF system register not ready.
[ 16.316687] phy0 -> rt2800_load_firmware: Error - PBF system register not ready.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Try this (from a bug report with similar issues):

That definitely won't work. The staging driver is gone, so what one must use is exactly the driver that link says to blacklist.

Hmm...I guess you know better than I would. However it worked for the fellow who posted it, and he seemed to have had a similar problem. Here is the whole bug report if it will be of any help:

Yes, because he used an old kernel (2.6.37) that has the staging driver. The staging driver is gone starting with kernel 3.0

One thing of note is that one of the major packages that was updated was linux, which is now to 3.0.6.

does downgrading to 3.0.4 solve the issue so we could be sure it's kernel related (even if it's extremely likely) ?
edit: please let us know what is your chipset precisely

If you're wondering, one of the first things I tried was reinstalling the kernel.
