[SOLVED] Issues with basic LAMP - PHP downloads instead of executes.

I've setup a basic LAMP on my arch build, I've run into a problem which I think is permissions based. When i navigate to a particular directory called "easysettle" it downloads the index.php instead of executing it. However, if i rename this to "easysettle2" it executes properly. I've resigned to using easysettle2 because I couldn't be bothered wasting time on it, but I was wondering if anyone could figure out why it was happening.

heres the result of ls -l:

 drwxrwxrwx 7 tyler websrvr 4096 Oct 13 19:47 ./
drwxr-xr-x 75 tyler websrvr 4096 Oct 13 18:58 ../
drwxr-xr-x 10 tyler users 4096 Oct 13 18:17 easysettle/
drwxrwxrwx 6 tyler websrvr 4096 Oct 13 14:47 eurostyle/
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler websrvr 0 Sep 19 10:28 index.html~*
drwxrwxrwx 32 tyler websrvr 4096 Sep 30 14:56 legacy/
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler websrvr 6925204 Oct 2 17:34 localhost.sql*
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler websrvr 0 Sep 19 10:29 phptest.php~*
drwxrwxrwx 5 tyler websrvr 4096 Oct 13 16:23 qpilch/
drwxr-xr-x 2 tyler users 4096 Oct 13 16:21 sa/
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler websrvr 366788094 Oct 4 21:29 terra.avi*
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler users 21 Oct 12 20:07 test.php*
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler users 0 Oct 12 20:06 test.php~*

then after a rename to "easysettle2"

drwxrwxrwx 7 tyler websrvr 4096 Oct 13 19:30 ./
drwxr-xr-x 75 tyler websrvr 4096 Oct 13 18:58 ../
drwxr-xr-x 10 tyler users 4096 Oct 13 18:17 easysettle2/
drwxrwxrwx 6 tyler websrvr 4096 Oct 13 14:47 eurostyle/
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler websrvr 0 Sep 19 10:28 index.html~*
drwxrwxrwx 32 tyler websrvr 4096 Sep 30 14:56 legacy/
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler websrvr 6925204 Oct 2 17:34 localhost.sql*
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler websrvr 0 Sep 19 10:29 phptest.php~*
drwxrwxrwx 5 tyler websrvr 4096 Oct 13 16:23 qpilch/
drwxr-xr-x 2 tyler users 4096 Oct 13 16:21 sa/
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler websrvr 366788094 Oct 4 21:29 terra.avi*
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler users 21 Oct 12 20:07 test.php*
-rwxrwxrwx 1 tyler users 0 Oct 12 20:06 test.php~*

It's identical, which I thought meant I should be seeing normal functionality when I navigate to the directory /easysettle. Why would it be behaving like this when the permissions are identical?

Re: [SOLVED] Issues with basic LAMP - PHP downloads instead of executes.

Ah, nevermind, seems I solved my problem. Was actually due to mod_rewrite, which was enabled, but the  /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf file didn't have

AllowOverride All

This lead to an error with wordpress which produced symptoms. It's a weird symptom for the actual problem, but I fixed it by changing the above and then setting the permissions properly.

Changing to solved.
