[Solved] syslog-ng Configuration Problem.

I am trying to configure my syslog-ng.conf file by following the wiki article. However, when I restart it I get the following error:

Error parsing main, syntax error, unexpected KW_LOG in /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf at line 25, column 10:

   group(log);
         ^^^

which is caused by the following in the options section:

  # default owner, group, and permissions for log files         (defaults are 0, 0, 0600)
   owner(root);
   group(log);
   perm(0640);

The group log does exist. I have looked at several example configurations and all have the same options. So what might be the problem? Commenting out the group(log); line makes the error disappear.

Re: [Solved] syslog-ng Configuration Problem.

Perhaps log should be quoted:  "log"? Also, post the full options {} piece.

Thanks quoting the argument fixed it.
