I have a slew of aliases to reconfigure the IP addresses of four eths to any of 22 configurations each. For example, e11 runs sudo ifconfig eth1 192.168.1.10. I figured I'd try to port them over to the ip command, but from what I've learned (no thanks to the god-awful manpage), it's not possible to change the IP address of a device with a single ip command. You first have to remove the old IP, which must be specified even if there's only one. Even setting my aliases aside, it looks like a script is required for a reasonable (ie. one step) method to change the IP of a device. Or am I mistaken in my understanding?
But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist.
