Pacman force architecture?

Is there a way to force pacman to install packages even though they're of the "wrong" architecture? For instance, I want to install wine, but I have Arch64. I know wine's in AUR, but I'd rather get the official one.

Re: Pacman force architecture?

That will not work at all.  An 'architecture' is your machine and it's hardware.  What you are asking is, in essence, "How do I use ATI's drivers for my Nvidia card?"

I think he means:
pacman -S --arch {i686|x86_64} {package name}

I think me, this may be a record.  2007 -- Yikes.

Hi Jason -- I see we are still on the boards at the same time.
