Problems with video editors

I've posted here before (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=129353) but without success. I've been searching for a solution long enough and am just desperate.

It seems that nobody knows the answer, so I'm adding that generally, I do have problems with video editors on GNOME3.
Programs I have tried out so far, such as Openshot, Pitivi, Kdenlive aren't working right. Either they aren't stable, or are lagging (like Pitivi in the video preview). Regarding Pitivi, I found something on launchpad that says it's probably a bug, but I can't find a similarly light, decent, simple alternative (no Cinelerra, please). Openshot would be great, but as I mentioned in the topic it has some graphical glitches and the final rendering output is completely wrong (starts from the half of the video, it's much faster than it should be and stuff). Kdenlive isn't stable, and anyway, seeing all its dependencies.. you know what I mean.

Do you have any ideas? Is anybody else struggling with similar problems?

I enjoy ffmpeg. Is this mention of Gnome 3 relevant? I mean, if you can get your preferred apps working in some other environment, then dropping Gnome sounds like the way to go to me.

What do you mean by that ffmpeg? It doesn't contain a video editor, does it? I have no problem with recording.

I think it'd work in case of a different enviroment, but I'm content with GNOME3 and this is the only thing that doesn't work on it. I've tried many desktops, like KDE, Openbox, Xfce, but they don't fit my needs. For instance, KDE is too "heavy" , it's not comfortable for me to use. Openbox and Xfce are the exact opposit, too light. I like GNOME3 because it's really somewhere in the middle. Nevertheless, I guess giving KDE a shot again and wait until it's fixed is the solution I have right now.

The only time I tried Pitivi (very recently) it didn't even start encoding when I asked it to render the project. It got stuck preparing something before the render... Anyway I just wanted to remove parts from a video and it doesn't seem ideal for this task.

I think the only video editor that I managed to use more or less successfully is Avidemux.

By video editing, I assumed you meant things like chopping bits out of videos, and concatenating videos together, which ffmpeg does. You can even get plugins that do compositing. What do you mean by this mention of recording?

Aah nothing, don't bother about it According to what I've found, I suppose that using ffmpeg to edit videos would take more time than learning to work with Cinelerra, furthermore it probably wouldn't be easy for frequent use. Thanks for a tip though.

Avidemux is too simple for me, it doesn't even have a timeline, or am I wrong? I need to work with multiple recordings.

Yeah, you can append multiple videos in Avidemux if they are the same size but that's it, as far as I can see.
