/proc/acpi/fan empty. Is it normal?

I was messing around with torsmo and wmpower dockapp.  I noticed that they can't detect the fan.  The reason being that the /proc/acpi/fan directory is empty. Is it normal? I am runnin acpid and  /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/THRM/ tells me that the temp is OK (61 C)
As always I can post more info.

Thanks

yes - I have 3 machines that don't detect fan settings... the i2c+lm_sensors stuff should handle that, but I never bothered...

OK.  On my last laptop, I couldn't make lm_sensors work so I eventually gave up. I might give lm_sensors another try though.
