[SOLVED] Is it normal for a laptop to be slow when copying to SDCard?

When copying files to my SD card I notice that my laptop is completely unresponsive. I can't operate a browser, open files, browse files, nothing. My laptop is literally a clipshow when this is going on. I first noticed this when copying a large amount of music to my SD card that I use for my phone. On my wife's computer, she also runs Arch, and has the same issue, so I figured I should look into this. Is there something I should have configured to make SD Card transfers not stop me from using my computer?

try different scheduler

echo deadline > /sys/block/sd?/queue/scheduler

if it does not work you can get it back as it was anytime with

echo cfq > /sys/block/sd?/queue/scheduler

note: must be root to do so

Thanks, I think that did it! Are there any side effects from doing that?
