Not sure if it warrants another thread [1], but creator of Lisp, John McCarthy died :-((((
[1] mods can split it, if they want

Yes, He deserves his own thread. Split.
I had the honor of spending a week with him on an Island in the Caribbean in 1975. I was in middle school at the time. Marvin Minsky was there as well. I did not realize at the time that I was in the presence of giants.

At least he lived a long a full life. My best to his family.

I never really got the whole Lisp thing, but his language apparently changed computing as well. Respect.

I couldn't believe it when I found out. Like I was taking a Computer Science class and just beginning to learn about McCarthy when he died! 0_0 Sad, isn't it. The Computer World has lost one of our best.

Not to forget, when McCarthy created Lisp computing was a really adventurous task. Nowadays most of his problems have become dull routine.
Nevertheless, there is still a lot to explore. And we haven't really started non-algorithmic computing yet.
To know or not to know ...
... the questions remain forever.

We've started non-algorithmic computing? But I thought that was impossible-ish?
