Can't determine cause of panics and hangs

For about the past two weeks I've been getting a lot of kernel panics (caps lock LED blinking) and other irrecoverable hangs too rude to announce themselves. This seemed to start when I upgraded from the 3.0 to 3.1 kernel but downgrading has no impact on the issue.

This is an Asus 1215b with AMD e-350 + Radeon 6310

On boot, I would get the

SP5100 TCO timer: mmio address 0xfec000f0 already in use

message, and brcmsmac would spam whatever tty was open.

It appears to be the same issue as in this post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=125482, except worse. Debian bug report (see link) suggests the SP5100 code is at fault since 2.6.15. On edit, blacklisting sp5100_tco stops the mmio error message but has no apparent effect on stability.

I have tried:

blacklisting wireless modules (brcmsmac, b43, broadcom-wl, bcma, ssb)
blacklisting sp5100_tco
using radeon drivers
using fglrx
nolapic  boot option
downgrading kernel
using an alternate kernel (ck's BFS from the repo)
animal sacrifice

I am not getting any log messages that can help, hangs are too quick. In one instance I had the hang happen with a tty open and saw sp5100 mentioned.

dmesg | grep -i conflict && dmesg | grep -i address output:

[ 0.000000] ACPI Warning: Optional field Pm2ControlBlock has zero address or length: 0x0000000000000000/0x1 (20110623/tbfadt-560)
[    0.000000] ACPI: Local APIC address 0xfee00000
[    0.000000] ACPI: Local APIC address 0xfee00000
[    0.000000] ACPI: IOAPIC (id[0x00] address[0xfec00000] gsi_base[0])
[    0.000000] IOAPIC[0]: apic_id 0, version 33, address 0xfec00000, GSI 0-23
[ 0.282682] pci_root PNP0A03:00: ignoring host bridge window [mem 0x000c8000-0x000dffff] (conflicts with Video ROM [mem 0x000c0000-0x000ce1ff])

So it appears related to the video card and the pci bridge fighting with the kernel. I backed up my work files and will attempt to update the BIOS and report back. Don't know what to do after that, this is making this system seriously unstable.

AND... The BIOS update utility hung midway. Hoping this has "CrashFree" on the mobo. I want to say it's not my fault, but I didn't checksum the ROM or updater beforehand. X-(
