[SOLVED] No network connection after "forced" shutdown

I had roughly 25 tabs open in Chromium. Conky said I was only using 2.5GBs of 4GBs of RAM. Nothing else open in Gnome Shell. However, the whole desktop became almost completely unresponsive and slowed to a crawl. I couldn't switch tabs or close Chromium. In a bone-headed move of frustration I shut down by holding the power button for a few seconds. After it booted back up, I can no longer get a network connection (no local IP even). If I boot into Ubuntu it works, so it's not a hardware or cable issue. I currently have "network" in my rc.conf. What can I do to troubleshoot this? Please let me know if there are any more relevant details that I can provide.

EDIT: Weird. Nevermind. After rebooting a few more times it did work. I think there is something going on with my hardware...
