[SOLVED] Issue With Notifications (libnotify) In LXDE/Openbox

I am running LXDE/Openbox on my system and am having some problems with notifications (libnotify).  When I run the command: notify-send "test", I receive no output and no notification on screen.  I did not have notification-daemon installed, so I installed that but still no notifications.  Any ideas what could be going on here?  I realized I have no notifications when switching tracks in Ario/MPD and have been troublshooting since but I'm not having any luck.

You installed it, but is it running?  Do you start the daemon in xinitrc or the lxde autostart file?

Ah ha.  Thanks Trilby.  After running /usr/lib/notification-daemon-1.0/notification-daemon start &, the notify-send command works properly and notifications are displayed.  Not sure I like the look of the notifications, so I'll probably go without em for now.  Much appreciated.  Solved.

Glad it's working.

I've never really used those notifications - but just in case, they do look much better with compositing (ie xcompmgr) running.
