chromium and google-chrome crash after typing "ctrl-space"

Long time Linux user, but new to Arch. I'm experiencing a really annoying bug in chromium.

After pushing ctrl-space (accidentally) my text input is underlined. This seems to be a feature as thunderbird does it too, but I can't figure out what it's for or which library provides this.

With chromium, a few seconds after the ctrl-space feature is activated, the browser crashes. An identical crash happens with the google-chrome package in AUR. As far as output goes, here's the stderr output:

[1621:1621:573002787:ERROR:browser_main.cc(146)] Gtk: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "mist",
[1621:1621:573002906:ERROR:browser_main.cc(146)] Gtk: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "mist",
[4:40:573665979:ERROR:platform_thread_posix.cc(253)] Not implemented reached in static void base::PlatformThread::SetThreadPriority(base::PlatformThreadHandle, base::ThreadPriority)
third_party/tcmalloc/chromium/src/free_list.cc:115] Memory corruption detected.
Aborted

I'm totally at a loss. Any idea what's wrong?

This sounds like something for: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list

(perhaps there already is an existing report there)
