How to make Pulseaudio remember volume setting

Hi guys,

I'm using pulseaudio as my sound output on XFCE. For some reason, after booting the volume always defaults to the maximum level. Is there a way so that it remembers the volume level from the last shutdown?

Re: How to make Pulseaudio remember volume setting

I'm having the same problem. The solution which is told on the pulse mailing list is to set the settings with pavucontrol.

However, this does not work for me.

Re: How to make Pulseaudio remember volume setting

EDIT: My mistake: the actual solution was to add the alsa daemon to /etc/rc.conf.

I had the same problem: the volume always returned to a specific default after every boot. My solution was to run (as root)

alsactl store

Apparently this creates a file which stores sound levels at shutdown and automatically restores them at boot. There's more useful information on the Arch Wiki page for Alsa.
