Hello!
if I connect, for example, to ftp://ftp.kernel.org:
vim ftp://ftp.kernel.org/
and I get:
"NetrwMessage" --No lines in buffer--
Error detected while processing function netrw#Nread..netrw#NetRead..<SNR>19_Net
rwBrowse..<SNR>19_PerformListing:
line 118:
E121: Undefined variable: w:netrw_bannercnt
E15: Invalid expression: !g:netrw_banner || line("$") >= w:netrw_bannercnt
Press ENTER or type command to continue
and after I press the Enter key again:
***netrw*** this system doesn't support remote directory listing via ftp
I noticed that sometimes vim writes an error like '/bin/bash ftp: command not found'. So I was searching for package that has 'ftp' command and installed 'inetutils'.
And now, finally, I can connect to ftp servers, but I get some garbage at the bottom of direcotory listing window:
" ftp://anonymous@ftp.kernel.org/
" Sorted by name
" Sort sequence: [\/]$,\<core\%(\.\d\+\)\=\>,\.h$,\.c$,\.cpp$,*,\.o$,\.obj$,\.info$,\.swp$,\.bak$,\~$
" Quick Help: <F1>:help -:go up dir D:delete R:rename s:sort-by x:exec

What should I do to fix this? This garbage I get on all ftp servers.

Don't know what this has to do with Arch. Have you tried the Vim mailing list?
